Holiday accommodation can be the highlight of your trip or an aside.  It can be just a place to rest your head or the main attraction.  Accommodation comes in many forms, from full service to self service.  From budget back packers to welcoming Lodges.  And the type of experience you want can dictate the type of accommodation you choose.  For instance if you plan a weekend of adventure and activity at the snow, taking in Turoa or Whakapapa ski fields, you have a number of options.

If it’s a weekend away with friends, a Lodge is a great option.  Usually you’ll find a common lounge type area, and in places like Ohakune, National Park and Raetihi, roaring open fires entice you to stay in instead of venturing out.  Alternatively, self contained accommodation or holiday homes can offer a similar space, with more do-it-yourself involvement like lighting that fire yourself and taking your own linen.  You and your friends can hang out together but you don’t have to socialise within the confines of a motel room.

Hotels and Luxury Accommodation
If you’re planning a romantic weekend away and don’t intend leaving your room, the amenities of luxury accommodation really come into their own.  If you plan to stay in all weekend, you probably want a really comfortable bed, room service, multi channels on the TV and a well stocked mini bar.
