No I went to school on the North Shore of Auckland.
What’s the best thing about being a Central Plateau local?
The outdoors, mt ruapehu, snowboarding, rivers, fishing, bush... the ruggedness of the countryside.
What’s your favourite feature of the area you live in?
Mt Ruapehu hands down.
What’s your claim to fame? What best describes what you do?
I own Off-Piste ski and snowboard rentals and retail. I’ve been operating for the past 20 years.
What inspired you to get into this field of work?
The mountain, addicted to snowboarding. I enjoy getting people into skiing and snowboarding, just getting them up there. It’s a good feeling when my customers come back from a day up the mountain fully stoked.
What made it possible?
Hardwork, I came into the industry pretty fresh but over the years have gained a great deal of knowledge.
What are your future plans?
I’m sticking to rentals now... it’s all about lifestyle.
What’s the most difficult thing you’ve had to get through?
Virtually every ski season can be challenging.
What strengths/experience do you need to be good at what you do?
Customer service is key, passion keeps you going and staying in touch with the industry.
