What’s the best thing about being a Central Plateau local?
The people. Everyone seems to love living here. Taupo has a superb community spirit. What other town could get 2000 volunteers for an event like the Ironman.
What’s your favourite feature of the area you live in?
The outdoors lifestyle. Mountain biking, fishing, golf, the mountains are all so accessible.
What best describes what you do?
Fly fishing guide and Web designer. Worlds apart but every Fishing guide needs a good website.
What inspired you to get into this?
A fishing addiction and need to escape Auckland.
What’s your claim to fame?
World silver medal (team) in World Fly fishing Champs2008. Double international in Duatlon and Fly fishing.
What’s your most recent success?
Setting a new record at this years National Fly fishing champs. 44 fish measured in a 3 hour session.
What made it possible?
25 years of fly fishing experience.
What are your future plans/goals?
Expand my web design and marketing business and make another New Zealand Fly fishing team.
What strengths do you need to be good at what you do?
As a fly fishing guide you really need good people skills and lots of patience.
