The Community Spirit
What’s your favourite feature of the Ruapehu region?
The beautiful country and mountain views that I get to look at everyday! Definitely beats the concrete jungle!
What’s your claim to fame? What best describes what you do?
I have a passion for hairdressing! I am a hairdresser at The Hair Studio in Ohakune and own The Tanning Studio.
What inspired you to get into this?
I love creating a style for someone and seeing my work develop in front of me, it’s a great feeling making someone else feel beautiful.
What made it possible?
My mum and dad! For always supporting me.
What are your future plans/goals?
Building a name for myself and hopefully I will open a hair salon of my own one day!
What’s the most difficult thing you’ve had to get through?
Back problems! I pulled two ribs out of their sockets and had bone grinding on bone for six months from doing too many blow waves! And being diagnosed with adrenal fatigue.

It helps if you like people, and have a genuine interest in the colourful world of the hairdressing industry.
Any funny moments you can share with us?
Oh there is many, but what is said in the salon stays in the salon!
Your advice to someone wanting to get into what you do?
Play and practise on anyone and everyone, look at past and present trends and have good training! Love what you do and you never feel like you are working.
